Machine Operator

Job Description

Responsible for ensuring machines operate at peak levels of quality and efficiency, driving improvements through continuous improvement processes, and developing, training, and motivating team members through knowledge and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to team members based on strong knowledge of processes and equipment.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain training procedures.

  • Train and develop new employees, which may require temporary assignment to other shifts.

  • Complete changeovers of machines for production runs.

  • Monitor machines per control plan to ensure the process is running according to specification.

  • Relieve operators and fill in for supervisors as needed.

  • Maintain setup records for each machine and products produced; submit first article inspection parts to quality for approval.

  • Possess a high level of knowledge about all processes used throughout the department, including material handling, system transactions, quality testing and reporting, emergency procedures, etc.

  • Make minor mechanical repairs and adjustments to machines and notify leadership when major service is required.

  • Assemble equipment and tooling for scheduled production runs.

  • Answer equipment alarms.

  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.

  • Ensure efficient production to help achieve production scrap and OEE goals.

  • Safely and efficiently shut down equipment.

  • Drive improvements in production through continuous improvement processes.

  • Suggest equipment and tooling improvements based on production experience and results.

  • Drive root cause analysis and proper corrective actions.

  • Inspect tooling before and after production runs to ensure quality; communicate any issues to the appropriate departments.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on tooling, including teardown, cleaning, greasing, visual inspection, and assembly.

  • Maintain documentation on processing and tooling issues.

  • Ensure company policies and guidelines are followed.

  • Recommend improvements to policies and procedures aimed at improving efficiency, safety, and quality.

  • Ensure team members maintain a clean and safe work environment.

  • Help maintain appropriate records such as shift logs and QMS documents.

  • Process and control any non-conformance defects with production parts.

  • Update and maintain necessary documentation.

  • Perform the 6S activities (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, sustain, and safety) to organize and manage workstations.

  • Assist in daily cleaning and maintenance of production area, machinery, and tooling.

Essential Skills

  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting machines, setting up machines, and ensuring machines run smoothly in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures regarding health and safety issues.

  • Ability to carry out instructions in written, verbal, and diagram form.

  • Ability to prioritize and resolve problems.

  • Ability to comply with quality system procedures.

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

  • Experience in SAP.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with little supervision.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to solve problems and make quick decisions.

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a 180,000 sq. ft. plant in Shalersville, Ohio, expected to be operational in early 2025. Employees will work with various technologies and equipment, following a structured dress code and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49920.00 - $56160.00/yr.

• Privately held, last month and turning 125 years old and putting a book together and videos and cool things and pay out monthly wage and 125%.

• Hourly production PIP-Production Incentive Plan and departmental roles and pay out 1% each quarter and the last 2% based on company and last three years have paid out 150%.

• All positions have bonus potential. On average $500-600 or so, based on metrics and operating efficiency and quality and safety.

• Shift Differential if they train on an off shift or when they go to their shift in OH is the following…this is on top of base pay.

2nd shift: $2

3rd shift: $1.50
