Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Eng Manager--Azure Core Storage in Sydney, Australia

We (Azure Core - Host Storage team) are responsible for delivering the Storage Virtualization platform to Azure VMs. Our stack handles trillions of IOs every day from Azure VMs and runs in 100s of datacenters and 1000+ Clusters. We own the whole software stack on Azure Host responsible for handling VM IOs, various caches, Throttles, QoS for Azure VMs, various transports layers, encryption of data in transit and at rest. As our Storage solutions are getting larger in capacity, faster in performance and intelligence at an astounding rate, our customers are expecting seamless experiences across azure. Responsibilities

  • You will lead the team of engineers who designs, develops system drivers

  • You will design and develop system software that manages storage services in Azure.

  • You will ensure that services and components are well-defined and modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored, and reusable.

  • You will consider testability, portability/monitoring, reliability, and maintainability, and understand when code is ready to be shared and delivered.

  • You will collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers, including mentoring more junior engineers in the workgroup.

  • You will drive for quality in everything you do and continuously improve the quality of the systems on which you work.

  • You will collaborate across team boundaries to define and drive team charter and vision.

  • You will test, debug and improve existing storage features.

  • You will rapidly deploy cloud scale solutions and monitor health through telemetry.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, OR Python.

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years people management/technical lead experience.
