Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Medical Assistant IHS Residency Program Talihina in Talihina, Oklahoma
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Performs clerical and clinical responsibilities to keep the medical office running smoothly and ensure patients’ needs are met. You will report to the RN Unit Manager.
Primary Tasks:
Greet guests and sign in patients for their scheduled appointments.
Complete patient care tasks specific to assigned department such as: dress wounds according to physician instructions (Specialty Clinic), or schedule and complete decompression table appointments (Residency Clinic).
Collect vitals and patient history.
Answer telephone, schedule appointments, take messages, and refer calls to appropriate place.
Update information in the computer.
Manage supply of all forms and non-medical supplies in the area; receive supplies according to hospital policy.
Call patients for follow-up and missed appointments.
Report problems with patients, staff or visitors to clinic manager.
Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns, and hazardous conditions to clinic manager.
Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED
Current Basic Life Support certification
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to remain calm and professional even in an emergency situation
Must have Certified Medical Assistant Certificate
Ability to protect confidentiality of the patient
Knowledge of HIPPA and the importance of confidentiality
Wound management experience
Three years medical experience
