General Summary

The Florida House of Representatives is seeking a dedicated and proactive Support Analyst to join our dynamic Office of Information Technology team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a talent for technical troubleshooting, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service. This role involves resolving first and second level desktop computer and computing application issues for our end-users, both onsite and remotely. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE: Pursuant to sections 112.3144 and 112.3145, F.S., this position is required to electronically file a Form 1 – Statement of Financial Interests (https://disclosure.floridaethics.gov/2023/form/1/instructions/print) with the Florida Commission on Ethics within 30 days of hire.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Engage directly with customers to resolve issues.

  • Install, test, and configure new workstations/laptops, peripheral equipment, and software.

  • Conduct system testing.

  • Specialize in one or more areas supported by the section.

  • Respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT Service Desk.

  • Assist with onboarding of new users and manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images, and software.

  • Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.

  • Establish an individual growth plan for future career planning.

  • Report issues for escalation.

  • Interact with vendors to obtain necessary information.

  • Develop and administer security functions related to data, physical, and user access to information systems.

  • Report project status to Deputy Chief Information Officer of Support.

  • Participate in the design and implementation process for specialized systems projects.

  • Research industry technological advances for potential application in the legislative environment.

  • Document internal procedures.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of information systems terminology and concepts.

  • Proficiency with specialized tools used to develop applications.

  • Knowledge of information systems operations, equipment, procedures, and workflow.

  • Ability to apply specialized information systems knowledge.

  • Problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.

  • Ability to produce quality work under pressure.

  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups.

  • Ability to work on-site during regular business hours, with occasional after-hours and weekend commitments. This includes project completion, incident resolution during committee weeks, Session, and participation in an on-call rotation.

  • Ability to conduct thorough and documented analysis with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to read and understand technical information systems publications.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, mathematics, or engineering.

Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Any combination of progressively responsible information systems experience and post-secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling four years.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer support role.

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Windows, and remote control.

  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products.

  • IT Certifications such as MCSE, MCP, Comp TIA A+, Network+ or Cisco are a plus.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.

  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

  • Customer-oriented and cool-tempered.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret user requests.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic understanding of desktop, laptop, and printer hardware repair.

    Commensurate with experience.
