Position Summary:

The Senior Communications Manager role requires a self-motivated professional who will oversee internal and external corporate communications ensuring messaging is effective, engaging, and consistent with our brand and values. Collaborating with Marketing, Customer Service, HR, Safety and leadership, this role will take an active role in communication strategy and execution to various stakeholders including media, customers, community, and employees. The Senior Communications Manager will also support employee engagement programs. A thorough understanding of communications and PR best practices is required, as well as a passion for building relationships and working collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Public relations/affairs across market areas, working collaboratively with PR partners and market area leadership to develop strategy and oversee execution

  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Marketing to develop communications plans and messaging that strengthens customer loyalty and satisfaction, including ORM initiatives

  • Support media relations, coordinating with media agency partners and press contacts

  • Writing press releases and corporate announcements

  • Liaison between leadership, HR, Safety and Marketing on internal communications

  • Support employee recognition and engagement initiatives and contribute new ideas to expand internal programs

  • Change management communications, ensuring timely messaging consistent with our business objectives and values

  • Assist in developing and implementing internal communication plans for crisis situations.

  • Develop and deliver media training sessions for employees.

  • Track and analyze internal communication metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and identify areas for improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field

  • 7 years communications experience with at least 2 years in a PR role

  • 3 years of experience in an internal corporate communications role (non-agency)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with copywriting, editing and proofreading skills

  • Exceptional planning and project management skills

  • Organized and ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment

  • Enjoys taking ownership of projects while coordinating with various teams

  • Self-motivated and possesses a sense of urgency; proactive in resolving problems

  • Strong interpersonal skills and enjoys building relationships
