Job Overview: A Crisis Counselor conducts sound clinical assessments for clients in crisis, whether in a hospital or office environment. They promptly respond to requests from medical staff to perform detailed crisis evaluations and suggest suitable discharge plans or care levels. The counselor must be adept at immediate crisis intervention and, upon determining a client's need for a specific care level, will arrange and oversee the provision of such services, ensuring outstanding follow-up support to healthcare providers.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Proficient in crisis intervention and assessment
Ability to identify the proper care level for clients
Skilled in evaluating clients with mental health issues, substance abuse problems, or suicidal/homicidal tendencies
Competent in serving diverse populations, including children, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those with severe mental health conditions
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive crisis evaluations and recommend suitable care levels
Record findings in the appropriate electronic medical records system
Respond promptly to requests from medical personnel
Collaborate with the Care Team to coordinate and facilitate client services
Deliver exceptional follow-up customer service to clients and healthcare providers
Be willing to travel to clients' locations during crisis situations
Ensure timely on-site responses within the company's standard response time range
Participate in regular staff meetings
Contribute to training new Crisis Counselors
Provide testimony in mental health court proceedings as needed
Qualifications: Candidates must hold a current, unrestricted license from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, including LCSW, LMSW, LPC, or LAC credentials. A minimum of two years of post-master's experience, with recent experience (within the last 24 months) in counseling services, or a combination of equivalent experience, skills, and education, is required.
Pay Details: $66,000.00 to $77,000.00 per year
