The Software Engineer will assist the organization in creating and modifying business tools that will provide world class services to our membership and provider partners, as well as creating operational efficiencies and a competitive advantage for HealthSmart. By performing these duties, HealthSmart is able to better process data, communicate with its providers and members, exchange and receive information between providers and members, and provide an overall higher level of service to its members and affiliate entities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with HealthSmart Tribal Business partners to support the Medicare-like repricing business by learning an supporting the Clipper based MLR platform

  • Participates in Server migration and tech-debt reduction

  • Utilizes a thorough understanding of available technology, tools, and existing designs

  • Works independently and quickly with little handholding

  • Works on the most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors

  • Plans, performs, and contributes to platform designs, coding, and testing

  • Contributes to most complex multiple modeling, simulations, and analysis efforts

  • Contribute to SDLC and acts as a key player in software design and engineering

  • Quickly and efficiently converts business requirements to technical development specifications that meet BCP requirements

  • Designs and codes superior technical solutions. Codes applications that process efficiently and accurately

  • Easily recognizes system deficiencies and implements effective solutions

  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements

  • Communicates and enforces coding standards. Works with management to adapt standards to new technologies

  • Follows the standard system development lifecycle and ensure other adhere to the standards

  • Consistently delivers high-quality services to clients

  • Adheres to technical documentation standards defined by IT management

  • Delivers informative, well-organized presentations

  • Creates efficient and logical databases for clients

  • Effectively employs many different database design techniques

  • Creates well designed, reusable objects

  • Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions with project management. Communicates difficult/sensitive information tactfully

  • Continually seeks opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships. Manages client expectations effectively

  • Suggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Years of post-high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience with Coding languages - C#, .NET (VB.NET, ASP.NET)

  • Experience with Full-life cycle programming

  • Experience with Back-end database in SQL SERVER

  • SCM tools (Bitbucket, GIT or others)

  • Back-end programming skills to navigate T-SQL stored procedures, nested stored procedures, temp tables and view

  • Proven object-oriented design and development skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Clipper, Mediator

  • Experience in Healthcare industry

  • Exposure to static code analysis and vulnerabilities remediation

  • Exposure to automated builds and deployments using TFS CI/CD, Cruise Control etc.

  • Exposure to Redgate tools

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, e.g. Excel, Word, Power Point, and Visio

  • Proven solid data analysis skills

  • Proven easy communicator/collaborator with solid eye to details

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
