Xylem Application Specialist in Toronto, Ontario

The Application Specialist will provide technical and commercial support for new equipment and aftermarket services quotes to internal and external customers. Work efforts of low to moderate level of technical expertise such as specification review, product selection and order feasibility will be required.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Provide commercial support and use available quotation and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools as well as communicate with related internal customer and vendor contacts

  • Develop technical depth and understanding of Xylem product and application knowledge

  • Provide inquiry to order commercial support with activities including solicitation of vendor quotes and customer quotation development and sales pipeline support.

  • Support to sales representatives by providing pre-sales technical and commercial support with activities including: basic level Application Engineering support to internal customers with design and proposal of our systems; specification review for the purposes of identifying and facilitating pre-bid needs; and related follow up work that includes product selection, solicitation of vendor quotes, and customer quotation development

  • Daily utilization of Customer Relationship Management (CRM), quotation and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools to input new data and maintain existing data to current status to support internal and external customer interactions and needs

  • Create customer service experiences for internal customers

  • Assist Sales Region with the achievement of sales targets and budgets;

  • Initiate customer contact by telephone and/or email

  • Daily Internet scanning in the research of new projects;

  • Provide assistance, as required, with other day-to-day customer support activities

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in special projects to create best practices, improve processes, create training tools or to support Xylem initiatives as determined and conduct related presentations or training sessions

Required Qualifications:

Minimal education & experience, essential skills & abilities and required license/certification to perform this job.

  • 2-4 Year college degree in a technical or engineering field

  • Basic knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical work

  • 0-2 Years’ experience in Municipal, Industrial or Engineering market Technical knowledge as it relates to the understanding of engineered solutions equipment and related tools

  • Ability to gain expertise in Xylem required product configuration and selection tools

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Good collaborative and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and task management skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Ability to work with diverse workforce and customer base

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional preferences for a specific position.

  • Experience with Salesforce.com Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Select Configure Price Quote (SCPQ) tools

  • Continuous improvement, lean practices, value stream mapping and waste elimination experience
