Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) currently has an exciting Product Quality Engineering opportunity. This is a full-time opportunity and will report to the Manager, Product Quality. The selected candidate will ensure quality, durability and reliability of Toyota and Lexus vehicles meet or exceed the Canadian market expectations through early detection & early resolution of quality improvement opportunities. The successful candidate will also ensure appropriate activities are performed to obtain countermeasures and field fixes in a timely manner and implement effective communication with other Toyota affiliates for quality improvement activities. While acting as a Kaizen (continuous improvement)/enhancement Subject Matter Expert for quality improvement solutions, the candidate will monitor “New Model” launch quality and ensure rapid response, and contribute to research that influences future product design.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Conduct Early Detection of vehicle product quality issues and concerns through various sources of information

  • Prepare Field Technical Reports through failed part investigation and root cause analysis

  • Interact with Toyota affiliates towards resolving all prioritized technical concerns including vehicle component technical analysis and communication with TMC Design and Manufacturing

  • Conduct market analysis to summarize high impact quality issues

  • Coordinate priority concerns, research projects, field surveys and tests

  • Initiate and directs all phases of TCI’s involvement with new model evaluation and testing

  • Communicate with TCI Field Services and other TCI departments to obtain or supply required technical information

Work Efficiency

  • Make detailed documentation of quality information and work process flow

  • High accountability to affiliate engineering groups in representing Canadian market quality information

  • Lock in and measure incremental success through the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Initiate and implement appropriate Kaizen efforts which results in work efficiencies relating to cost reduction or avoidance, improved time and process efficiencies

  • Standardize and share successes across the team and organization through Yokoten (sharing of best practices) while continuing to Kaizen

What You’ll Bring:

  • University degree with a concentration in Engineering or related field

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality improvement activities in Design, Manufacturing, or Field, preferably within the automotive industry

  • Ability to identify potential high impact technical/quality issues and manage priorities under changing timelines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong technical report writing skills

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong Microsoft Excel skills

  • Strong business partnering experience with internal and external stakeholders

  • Proven ability to initiate & improve work processes to increase efficiencies

  • Experience with analyzing large data sets (Access, etc.) is an asset

  • Hands-on automotive repair experience is an asset

  • Bilingual English/French is an asset
