TAPER TIE CELL/CNC PROGRAMMER & OPERATOR

This job will normally consist of three (3) employees working together to manufacture a variety of products referred to in the concrete construction industry as taper ties. At times only two (2) employees will be required, example D9 Style Taper Ties. These operators will manufacture these ties using a variety of lathes, thread cutting machines, milling machines, and thread rolling machines. The operators will work together to efficiently manufacture this product line. Operators will be required to operate all the machines in the cell, in multiples whenever possible, to simultaneously complete the various machining requirements of these products.

  1. Routine work of limited scope and repetitive in nature requiring a period of experience or training. Previous training or experience required.

  2. Inherent demands for accuracy are present.

  3. Good industry and productivity are an absolute.

  4. Necessity for the operator to retain this position.

  5. Job is normally performed under average or better occupational environment.

  6. Above average intelligence

  7. Ability to use and read measuring devices necessary to perform Q/C checks

  8. Good physical condition.

  9. Ability to accept and follow instructions and assignments with a minimum of supervisory assistance and detail.

  10. Ability to perform job in a flexible and cooperative manner with management and other bargaining unit employees.

  11. CNC Lathe operation and programming criteria per attached sheet.

  12. High School Education

  13. Ability to read mechanical prints and sketches.

  14. Good handwriting

  15. Computer literate

  16. Knowledge of trigonometry

  17. Familiar with insert tooling & tool geometry.

  18. Perform functions necessary to start up and shut down machinery.

  19. Efficient and accurate set-ups with a minimum of down time and supervision will be required after initial training period.

  20. Adjust, install, or remove jibs, stops, fixtures, attachments, or tools necessary to produce the required product as instructed.

  21. Handles all material associated with the operation of this equipment.

  22. Make necessary checks and adjustments to ensure that the product is manufactured to Q/C specifications.

  23. Operator will be required to work in the most efficient cooperative manner possible, as assigned and with minimum of supervision.

  24. Reports machine breakdowns or malfunctions to the supervisor. Perform repairs when capable and assigned.

  25. Replace perishable parts on machinery, jigs, fixtures, attachments, or tools as required.

  26. Keep the machine and adjacent area neat and clean.

  27. When required, handle and prepare the material in a manner necessary to make the product ready for shipment.

  28. Perform the necessary functions required to count, record and report production efforts

  29. Perform other assigned duties of short duration and cooperative nature.

  30. Program CNC Lathe to manufacture products as needed.

  31. Operate CNC and/or other machines associated with taper tie cell.
