About the Role

Support the execution of Magna Powertrain including MPT Ramos Purchasing Ops Process ensuring all targets, cost, quality, and delivery of the Divisions are achieved. Coordinate Purchasing Operations activities between suppliers and all areas of MPT & MPT-Ramos i.e., Strategic Purchasing, Program Managers, Supplier Quality Development and/or other divisional designates.

Your Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the Purchasing Operations function with the objective of optimizing cost, while supporting Business Plan / Cost Mitigation Targets / Supplier Cost Recovery across all functional areas.

• Analyze quotes from suppliers including cost claims from current supply base and prepare for management review. Including Division and Corporate levels.

• Prepare supplier quote(s) and detail data to analyze / develop a negotiation strategy.

• Present strategic supplier cost mitigation position to SLT (Senior Leadership Team) within the organization—options and recomended next steps.

• Negotiate the best possible price / outcome—supplier cost claim(s). Business Plan and Program target alignment.

• Generate, distribute and follow up RFQ’s, as per the Global Purchasing Process. As required.

• Work with Strategic Purchasing & Finance-- tracking BOM cost Vs Annual BP. Reporting.

• Support Materials function – supplier run out / inventory levels—interface with assigned supply base.

• Understand and explain part waterfall charts, supply charts, EDI data.

• Support Constraint Management function and Supplier Quality function.

• Assist in development of a strategic supply chain.

• Assist in analysis of new trends in market & technology.

• Organize Commercial and Technical savings workshops (VA/VE) with suppliers in co-operation with Strategic Commodity Management and Supplier Quality Development or SQD.

• Track VA/VE activities& other savings road maps / status / implementation. Report out as required.

• Support development of new technologies to improve quality, efficiency and reduce cost.

• Maintain supplier relationships that are both productive and mutually beneficial while continually searching for and renegotiating cost savings.

• Ensure suppliers respond appropriately including issues of delivery, cost or quality.

• Work cooperatively with peers to implement consistent policies, procedures, strategies, and reporting.

• Communicate the necessary information to MPT management to assist in decision making and strategy formulation.

• Responsible for promoting and seeking excellence in all aspects of business.

Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT’s Environmental Management System (EMS).

Who we are looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree required with a business or technical emphasis.

• Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactical plans.

• Minimum two (2) years of experience in Purchasing or related field within a manufacturing facility.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office

• Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.

• Travel will be required.

Your preferred qualifications

• 3 – 5 years of experience, relevant experience within the automotive industry preferred.

• SAP ERP experience desired but not mandatory.
