The Department of Professional Education Programs of The Esteves School of Education at Russell Sage College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position (Professor of the Practice) at the rank of Assistant Professor of Education, Physical Education and Health Education, effective for Academic Year 2024/2025. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching load of 21-load-credits per academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).

  • Advising students in the undergraduate physical education program and graduate school health education program

  • Service and scholarship/professional accomplishment appropriate for a non-tenure track position at a teaching institution through the lens of the Boyer Model.

The estimated base academic year salary for this position is $50,000, commensurate with experience.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of a master's degree in physical education or health education or a related area

  • Teaching a wide range of courses for physical education teacher education (undergraduates) and potentially a course in health education teacher education (graduates) through a variety of modalities.

  • Understanding and ability to advise and build relationships with students towards student success.

  • Certified or eligible for certification for PK- 12 physical education and/or health education.

Preferred:

  • A terminal degree in physical education or related area (ABD may be considered depending on anticipated completion date)

  • Significant experience in physical education and/or health education and administration may be substituted for terminal degree.

  • Experience teaching in higher education and PK-12 schools, experience and understanding of edTPA, a track record of collaboration with internal and external departmental constituents for program/course administration, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
