Employ Prince George's Manager, Human Resources in Upper Marlboro, Maryland

Position Compensation: $77,250.16 annually, benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, Health Reimbursement Arrangement, paid time off, and 401(k), profit sharing. Hybrid, 2 Days Remote

Employ Prince Georges is seeking an experienced Manager, Human Resources to join our organization. The Manager, Human Resources will need to be forward-thinking and possess a broad knowledge of human resources functional areas, including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, disciplinary action, and federal and state laws. The Manager, Human Resources oversees the HRIS, FMLA compliance, unemployment requests and maintains employee records with the support of the human resources staff.

The diversity of responsibilities is vast, and they will be relied on for their supervision skills, detail-oriented processes, and interpersonal skill to help administer various HR initiatives for internal and external stakeholders.

The Manager, Human Resources reports to the Director, Human Resources and works closely with the entirety of Employ Prince Georges staff in various capacities. This position will oversee the Coordinator, Human Resources, and Human Resources Generalist. This position is Exempt from overtime.

Essential Responsibilities:

Employee Communication, Supervision, and Engagement:

  • Oversee assigned Human Resources staff members, facilitate weekly staff meetings, provide training and development to direct reports, facilitate career mapping, and oversee disciplinary actions
  • Lead engagement and retention initiatives that reinforce our cultural narrative of growth, innovation, ownership, speed, collaboration, and inclusion
  • Oversee content creation and day-to-day management of our employee communication channels to ensure employee awareness, understanding of programs and initiatives, and participation in events
  • Develop and deploy tools, engagement surveys, and metrics for assessing employee feedback, identifying concerns, and monitoring overall employee satisfaction, and provide actionable insight from the data gathered
  • Other duties as assigned

Recruitment and Talent Management:

  • Oversee multiple, complete life-cycle equitable hiring processes simultaneously, including drafting job descriptions, reviewing resumes, updating interview protocols, extending offers, and conducting reference and background checks
  • Create and maintain strong partnerships with hiring managers by serving as a trusted advisor and providing training on recruiting best practices and techniques
  • Help enhance systems to guide and track the effectiveness and efficiency of EPGs recruitment and selection strategies
  • Ensuring HR team delivers an exceptional experience for all applicants by responding to all inquiries within 48 hours, proactively providing status updates, and ensuring communications are warm and accessible
  • Represent the organization at networking events, job fairs, and conferences
  • Participate in the onboarding and orientation of all new hires to company systems, policies, general operating procedures, and culture
  • Coordinate offboarding activities, including executing exit interviews, account terminations, etc.

Policy and Compliance:

  • Employ a thorough understanding of HR laws and organization policies and procedures and apply them consistently and fairly in day-to-day operations. Vigorously seeks to correct areas of non-compliance. Provides guidance and counsel clearly and effectively to leadership and employees, conveying policies a d procedures. Make appropriate suggestions based on legal knowledge
  • Participate in the development of organizational guidelines and procedures
  • Coordinate employee development plans and performance management
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contributes to the development of policies
  • Advises, coaches, and collaborates with the executive team on HR policies and programs, including complex employee relations issues, disciplinary policies, and annual evaluations
  • Conducts thorough and objective internal investigations, when necessary, in consultation with the executive team Provides technical advice and guidance to resolve staffing and placement requirements faced by complex organizations, including unusual or controversial ones without precedent-setting guidelines

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

To Be Successful in This Role Youll Need:

  • Bachelors Degree and three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in Human Resources or a related field or a combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) to three (3) years in a supervisory capacity, overseeing staff in a fast-paced setting
  • The ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality, be well-trusted with sensitive HR data and information, and pay attention to detail
  • Demonstrated expertise in employee relations management, talent acquisition, onboarding, HR best practices, and benefits administration
  • Must be able to communicate precisely and diplomatically both verbally and in written communications
  • Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver effective counseling methods and techniques resulting in desired outcomes
  • Knowledge of FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and EEO laws and guidelines
  • Full command of the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), Asana or Monday.com, ATS such as My Staffing Pro, and HRIS is critical
  • Experience with developing and implementing policies
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License and have access to a vehicle

Other Highly Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience, and Key Characteristics:

  • Human Resources Certification SHRM CP or SCP/PHR
  • Experience with Paychex
  • Experience working in a non-profit setting
  • Experience working in Workforce Development
