Empire State University is currently accepting applications for the role of Director of Clinical Experiences (State Title: Staff Associate). Empire State University is looking for a highly organized and collaborative individual who is dedicated to student success. This person will work closely with a team of professionals who are passionate about preparing teachers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Director of Clinical Experiences will provide leadership to develop, evaluate, and support high-quality clinical experiences for practitioner-based programs (e.g., teacher preparation, applied behavior analysis) at SUNY Empire. This position will also act as the lead for the implementation and maintenance of a clinical database which will track all certification and licensure requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with organizations and SUNY Empire faculty and staff to establish, build and maintain relationships and partnerships to arrange diverse and meaningful internship opportunities for students.

  • Developing internal practices to monitor and track learner outcomes required for reporting, accreditation, and program improvement.

  • Utilizing university systems to provide assessment data as needed to support accreditation requirements and program development.

  • Establishing and maintaining a system for tracking and evaluating field placements, student teachers, supervisors, and placement setting settings.

  • Research and oversee the implementation of software solutions for efficient data collection and management needed for clinical experiences and accreditation activities for the programs (e.g., Watermark).

  • Recording and tracking completed clinical placement agreements.

  • Verifying that clinical and field placements meet program, school, university, state, and accreditation standards and policies, ensuring diverse experiences within all placement settings.

  • Collaborating with teacher education faculty, Department Chairs, Academic Program Coordinators, and Deans as needed to ensure student success.

  • Communicating with the team and academic leadership regularly.

  • Supervising the Coordinators for Clinical Experiences.

  • Assisting the department in addressing issues that arise in internships and field experiences.

  • Developing reports as needed.

  • Special projects to support clinical programs and placements.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.

  • Excellent and effective communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to engage productively with organizational leadership, attorneys, administration, and prioritize tasks.

  • Ability to work within a collaborative environment with diverse populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years' work experience in higher education.

  • Experience developing, managing and evaluating field experience programs and developing standard operating procedures in New York State.

  • Knowledge of Pre-K through 12 teacher certification requirements in New York State.

  • Experience building external partnerships.

  • Competence with software solutions for data collection and management, such as Watermark.

  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English.

Special Information:

  • Occasional travel may be required to fulfill department, division, and university-wide commitments.

  • Some evening hours required as needed.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Rank/Salary: SL4 / $70,000.
