Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic (Title 32) (Permanent), Position Description Number D1341000 and is part of the VA 203 CEH SQ, National Guard. Responsibilities As a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic (Title 32), WG-5803-11, you will perform the below duties: Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. May provide recommendations and input to supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave. Performs the full range of shop work. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SrA - E7/MSgt), currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E4/SrA - E7/MSgt), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: Enlisted Member (E4/SrA - E7/MSgt) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience serving over small organizational segment in a maintenance function with responsibility for the overall shop operation. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-10 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience planning and laying out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s). Experience performing the full range of shop work. Experience implementing safety regulatory requirements. Experience preparing for and participating in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
