WuXi AppTec Business Development Manager, Internal Sales in United Kingdom
Overview
The Business Development Manager - EU will expand the WuXi Research Chemistry Services business (small molecule, peptide and oligo nucleotide) in the Region through the development, implementation and monitoring of lead generation activities in support of the EU BD team working closely with Marketing and BD and will report into the European Head of Business Development. The job holder will conduct lead generation activities supporting the BD team as new business strategies are developed and opportunities identified, and monitor the success of these lead generation campaigns, with the intent of expanding business with new clients. Typical activities will involve email campaigns around certain topics or in support of other marketing activities such as conferences or webinars. The job holder will develop new business strategies and opportunities, expand business with existing clients, and proactively manage the sales process in conjunction with the BD team. There is the possibility of transitioning into a client facing role where expectations will be to expand the WuXi Research Chemistry Services business on their given territory by growing business from existing accounts, and proactively developing new business from new clients identified via lead generation activities.

Responsibilities
Capture leads provided by the Marketing and other company teams in addition to other sources
Implement a lead generation process for the identification of new companies using various data sources and personal knowledge and networks to support the business growth strategy for WuXi Chemistry in Europe
Generate new leads in partnership with BD team such as organizing symposia and local events e.g. on Science Parks
Continually monitor progress towards the objectives of that strategy
Create new opportunities and develop new relationships to expand and grow the WuXi Chemistry customer base
Grow revenue through cross-selling into existing accounts across the WuXi AppTec business
Learn and then perform the selling, proposal, and contract negotiation process independently
Stays current on competitor strategy and provides input needed for the development of future services
Builds strong internal relationships across business units and divisions
Represents WuXi Chemistry at key trade shows and conferences
Become responsible for creating and managing all aspects of the customer relationship
Proactively works to optimize the tracking and recording of business opportunities and progress towards KPIs
Develops own network through local and other networking and partnering meetings.

Qualifications
Experience / Education
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline required.
At least 3 years life science experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong gravitas and relationship-building skills
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work under pressure.
Demonstrated success at managing multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to exhibit effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to provide input and then implement sales strategies and tactics to deliver results.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Must be organised and detail-oriented.
Good command of English, written and verbal.
Familiarity with various databases for lead generation activities e.g. Clarivate, BioCentury, etc
Ability to accomplish the described duties with the use of appropriate computer equipment and software (especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and CRM tool).
Valid Passport and the ability to travel 10-50% of the time in Europe, including UK/Ireland and Israel.
