About the Position

This position is primarily responsible for direction and leadership to all dining services operations specifically retail, catering and assisting with the implementation of GHA’s self-directed dining program. Responsible for maintaining high standards in service, resident relations, costs controls, staffing, safety, sanitation, training and special functions. Incumbent is also responsible for recording, reporting, and maintaining all operational and sales stats for the Dining Room and catered events.

Job Duties

  • Directly responsible for supporting, catering, and revenue generating operations for all Dining Service venues within GHA.

  • Provide Oversite and Guidance (e.g. meal service, food production, catering activities, tray service, and merchandising) throughout all areas of service.

  • Circulates in all dining areas include HC and AL during meal periods to field resident/guest comments pertaining to service and food quality.

  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, evaluating and counseling of all staff. Trains staff in customer service, proper portioning, cashier skills as well as safety and sanitation.

  • Provide Oversite and Guidance with scheduling and job duties for the entire operation and oversees payroll.

  • Works with Director, managers and supervisors to maintain effective resident relations throughout the community. Interacts frequently with customers and management team to determine satisfaction level and provide Service Recovery if necessary.

  • Assisting in the predicting, planning, monitoring, evaluation of cost programs, daily purchasing and maintenance of food preparation system, order book, recipe file, inventory, and storerooms, as assigned. Conducts team meetings. Participates in menu planning, writing and advertising.

  • Uses proper methods for food handling/infection control when managing and producing items.

  • Implements programs and special projects planned to provide quality service, food and service to residents, guests, and staff. Implements Corporate and Community programs as directed by DDS.

  • Maintains cash handling standards as outlined in the GHI Policies and Procedures Manual to eliminate theft of services or Company funds. Provide Oversite and Guidance by Interacting daily with production team to assist in effective production practices and strong financial focuses. Responsible for cash handling and record keeping in relationship to retail operations and or catering functions.

  • Completes all daily, weekly, or monthly reports as outlined in the department policies and procedures on a timely basis meeting all prescribed deadlines.

  • Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures as evidenced through local health department and third-party audits.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years food service management; experience with retail or upscale dining experience required.

  • Experience in retirement living food management preferred.

  • Must have solid understanding of cash handling and tracking procedures is required.

  • Serve Safe Food Protection certification is required or must be achieved within six months of hire.

  • Experience with financial management is required.

  • Experience with training and development of front-line staff is required.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Publisher is a must.

  • Experience developing dining programs and implementing procedures required.
