What's this role all about?

As a per diem outpatient Pediatrics Occupational Therapist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, you will assist in performing evaluations, demonstrate appropriate treatment interventions and strategies & Complete discharge planning for pediatrics patients.

The per diem Occupational Therapist in our acute therapy will assist in evaluating and treats patients in accordance with the prescription of the physician. Provides patient care consistent with Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics. Provides care while maintaining safety of the environment, utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity and attention to special populations, including patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical disabilities

The Therapist-Per Diem is considered employed on an at-will basis with no guarantee of scheduled hours. Scheduling is done based on staffing need and availability. The Therapist-Per Diem staff member is expected to be available a minimum of 16 hours per month.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program - Bachelors minimum

  • Master's Degree Graduate of an accreditied Occupational program- Preferred

  • Doctorate Degree Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program- Preferred

Licenses & Certification:

  • Possess a current and valid Occupational Therapy License per California State requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

What else are we looking for?

  • 2 years experience as a practicing therapist and evidence of ability to perform at this level. 1 year experience in the current or similar practice setting in which the individual will be working as a therapist - PEDS.

  • Good knowledge of assessment and intervention in a medical and physical disabilities setting.

  • Outpatient position; Weekdays

Physical Demands:

  • Able to push, pull, lift or carry 0-35 pounds on an intermittent basis.

  • Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat consistently in order to safely administer manual exercises and techniques.

  • Able to assist patient with physical activities such as transfers, bed mobility, and ambulation.
