About the job

Are you a visionary design leader ready to shape the future of our Core product and Special projects teams? As a Senior Product Design Manager Hybrid, you'll spearhead our Profiles and AI design initiatives, influencing product roadmap and fostering a culture of innovation within our talented team of designers. Additionally, you'll play a critical role in shaping operations and cross team collaboration to ensure our team consistently delivers top-quality solutions. This role is perfect for senior ICs who want to gain management experience or for managers who want to lean back into their design execution craft.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Leadership: Lead and inspire a team of 2 designers, providing guidance and mentorship to drive excellence in design execution and strategic thinking.

  • Craft: Deliver engineer-ready customer centered designs in key strategic areas in partnership with your R&D teammates.

  • Strategic Influence: Collaborate closely with product managers and stakeholders to shape product direction and ensure design aligns with overall business objectives.

  • Empowerment: Cultivate an environment where creativity thrives, empowering your team to explore new ideas and approaches while providing the support and resources needed for success.

  • Team Development: Foster professional growth and development among direct reports, coaching them to reach their full potential and achieve both individual and team goals.

  • Operational Excellence: Shape and optimize design operations to streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and ensure consistency in deliverables, ultimately driving higher quality outcomes.

  • Problem Solving: Identify and address challenges and roadblocks hindering design progress, finding innovative solutions to drive projects forward.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and UX research, to deliver cohesive and impactful design solutions.

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in design leadership roles (management or senior IC), with a proven track record of leading successful design teams in a matrixed organization

  • Deep understanding of design principles, user-centered design methodologies, and industry best practices across product design

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best

  • Proven experience collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentHigh level of empathy and emotional intelligence, with a genuine interest in understanding the needs and perspectives of team members

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, ambiguous environment, with a default to action in order to adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements

Location

This role will be remote, based in the USA.

*Please note this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado, California, New York, and Washington. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:

  • Based in Colorado: $164,480.00 - $205,600.00.

  • Based in New York, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $174,160.00 - $217,700.00.

  • This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
