The Cloud Automation group, within Ferguson IT, is looking to add a senior-level Cloud Engineer to the team! The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining infrastructure automation using best-in-class tools and practices. They will work closely with other Cloud Engineers and Architects to build automated solutions following architecture designs that enable teams to deploy and manage infrastructure resources with speed, consistency, and reliability. The ideal candidate will need to have deep infrastructure knowledge with experience in automating and scripting.

This role is approved to be fully remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Cloud Architects and Engineers to design and implement IaC frameworks using tools such as Terraform and cloud-native services to ensure efficient infrastructure management, scalability, and alignment with best practices and industry standards.

  • Develop and maintain automated scripts, templates, and playbooks to streamline provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes for various infrastructure components.

  • Design, develop, test, and administer IaC solutions for cloud IaaS, PaaS, and on-prem services.

  • Develop and maintain reusable templates and code to automate solution delivery and deployment processes across multiple cloud providers.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, best practices, and advancements in cloud automation technologies across cloud service providers (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI) related to IaC; evaluate and recommend new tools, services, and methodologies to improve the overall IaC solution.

  • Find opportunities to optimize existing infrastructure through automation, cost-effective resource allocation, and performance tuning.

  • Develop and maintain technical user documentation for automation processes, standards, and best practices to enable seamless knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience developing coding/scripting to build required automation and tools using Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ansible, YAML, JSON, Azure CLI, Java, JavaScript, etc.

  • Minimum of 5 years technical experience with infrastructure services.

  • Experience building and releasing infrastructure-as-code (IAC) in a controlled environment.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure platform a plus.

  • Specific experience working with Terraform Enterprise or Terraform Cloud.

  • Knowledge and experience working on integrating Azure, ServiceNow, or related services.

  • Experience in implementing a CI/CD pipeline.

  • Understanding of RESTful, SOAP, and SDK APIs.

  • Strong organizational skills required.

  • Team oriented with an ability to also work independently, with minimal guidance.

  • Solid attention to detail.

  • Must be self-motivated.

  • Professional written and oral communication skills.

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$8,470.59 - $14,834.37

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.
