Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Application Development will lead the software development team and be responsible for the development and maintenance of the software applications that power our platform, ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and meet the needs of our users. The position will be responsible for managing development projects and teams, adopting best practices in software development, and driving continuous improvement in our development processes.

This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to the Director of Software Engineering.

What you will do:

  • Lead the application development team in the design, development, and maintenance of software applications.

  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of ClearCaptions' platform through effective development practices.

  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including formal code review, continuous integration (CI), and continuous deployment (CD) processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and improvements.

  • Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of existing applications to improve performance and incorporate new features.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

  • Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and feedback to enhance their technical and professional skills.

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate into ClearCaptions' development practices.

  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation effectively.

  • Take an active talent management approach to onboard, mentor and inspire a diverse, highly engaged, and skilled team. Continually upgrade talent through timely talent management, development, succession planning and recruitment.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

  • Strong proficiency in programming languages and technologies relevant to real-time communication applications, such as Java, JavaScript, Node.js, React, WebRTC, and SIP (Session Initiation Protocol).

  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and understanding of cloud architecture best practices.

  • Familiarity with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and their application in web services.

  • Proven track record of leading successful software development projects from conception to deployment.

  • Strong background in adopting software development best practices, including formal code review, CI/CD processes.

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in Agile development methodologies.

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and services is a plus.

  • Respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivate colleagues to focus their energy on achieving business goals.

  • Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and tactical operational levels. Works to achieve goals while overcoming obstacles and/or planning for contingencies.

  • Strong analytical, planning and budgeting skills. Ability to influence others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.

  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours. and travel (up to >25%); will include some overnight travel.

  • Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams)

    Physical Demands:

    Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: 

  • Sitting, standing, and walking (95-100%)  

  • Keyboarding (70-90%)  

  • Viewing computer monitor, tablet and cell phone requiring close vision (70-90%) 

    Work Environment: 

    100% Remote: Work environment is indoors at home.

    Compensation :
