Job Description
Job Summary
The general responsibilities of the Field Based Instructor (FBI) are to ensure candidates in the field are given opportunities to demonstrate the many skills associated with the pre-professional educator as a reflective decision maker and developing leader. FBI’s must also have the ability to conduct on-site visits and hold seminar meetings with their assigned candidates, be able to establish and maintain good relationships between the university and cooperating schools, and communicate effectively with the candidate, the cooperating professional mentor and the College of Education designee.
Responsibilities
Evaluate performance of candidates in the classroom settings of local and surrounding school districts.
Complete a minimum of four formal classroom evaluations, including midpoint and final evaluations.
Maintain communication with the College of Education designee, school principals, cooperating professional mentors, and assigned candidates.
Model sessions as needed, instruct candidates on effective strategies, coach and mentor candidates.
Participate in and/or conduct seminars.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Education - Master’s degree or higher.
Experience - Possess a record of successful classroom teaching and /or administrative experience of at least ten years.
Licenses and Certifications
A current Texas teaching certificate.
Possess a current driver’s license and their own form of transportation to be used to travel to schools.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Possess good communication skills as well as critical analytical skills in order to provide positive constructive feedback and assess candidates’ performance in the field.
Salary: $16.00/hourly
