Job Description

Plan and perform design, implementation, configuration, testing, and continuous improvement of industry 4.0-based Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based PFS including Option Data Delivery (ODD) system, Quality Andon System, and Global Production Monitoring Controls system; Scalable Error Proofing (SEP); and Error Proofing Platform (EPP). Provide technical expertise on design and launch of General Assembly (GA) control systems in trim and chassis lines, brake and transmission fluid fill systems, and Body Shop ODD systems. Maintain working relationships with Plant Execution teams responsible for machinery, tooling, hardware, software, and internal GM engineering disciplines at HQ and vehicle assembly plants in N.A. region. Perform and engineer mechatronic and electrical designs to meet GM Global Common Controls Hardware (GCCH-1) standard, Global Common Controls Software (GCCS-2) standard, Global Robotics Standards (GRS), Global Common Controls Build (GCCB), and Industrial Ethernet Network standards. Required travel to GM vehicle assembly plants in U.S., Canada and Mexico (Detroit, MI, Ingersoll, ON, Lake Orion, MI, Spring Hill, TN, and Ramos Arizpe, MEX) to support deployment of automation projects for General Assembly (GA) and Body Shop areas, 8 weeks per year (equal to 15% annual travel).

Additional Job Description

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation and Controls Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field, and two (2) years of experience as an Engineer, or related role. Must also have experience with: planning and performing configuration and testing of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based Plant Floor Systems (PFS) including Scalable Error Proofing (SEP); and Error Proofing Platform (EPP).
