General Motors Staff Product Manager, Fleet Insights in Warren, Michigan

Job Description

The Role:

The newly established Product Management team at General Motors is seeking a Fleet Insights Product Manager to join our commercial software division. GM’s Fleet Insights product line seeks to help fleet customers operate their vehicles in the most cost effective, safe and sustainable way possible, leveraging data to identify specific areas of opportunity in areas such as energy, safety and maintenance. It relies on analyzing data and communicating recommendations to customers in actionable and specific ways.

As a Fleet Insights Product Manager, you will play a crucial role in using data to deliver impactful solutions. You will manage the entire product development process, including understanding customer needs that can be addressed with data, working with design and engineering to develop features, collaborating with other product teams to deliver insights through multiple channels, working with go-to-market teams to launch and measuring performance and success metrics. The ideal candidate has experience in product management for data science, advanced analytics and ML/AI (including generative AI) products. A proactive and self-starter mindset is essential in our agile commercial software environment.

Product Management is responsible for developing, managing and driving product initiatives across the organization. Key tasks include executing the product vision, roadmap and requirements. This also includes working with cross-functional teams, conducting market research, and collaborating with other teams to ensure the successful launch of new products. The role requires strong analytical skills, communication ability and a passion for delivering exceptional products that meet customer needs.

What You’ll Do:

Manage insights products

  • Gather and prioritize customer needs to develop data-driven, customer-facing insights

  • Create and manage the product vision, roadmap and requirements for insights products

  • Define and track key performance indicators to evaluate the success of insights products

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data analytics and ML/AI

Deliver effective insights

  • Collaborate with data science, engineering, and design teams to build and refine insights products

  • Work with other product teams to integrate insights into their products

  • Provide support and guidance to our GTM and sales teams on how to leverage insights for maximum impact

Collaborate with stakeholders

  • Serve as an unofficial mentor to other product managers on the commercial software team

  • Help other product managersunderstand the potential of transformative technologies that can create value from data

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7+ years of product management experience or relevant experience

  • Experience working with data science, advanced analytics and ML/AI products

  • Solid understanding of machine learning capabilities and limitations

  • Familiarity with SQL or similar query languages, and willingness to learn others

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills

  • Analytical mindset with a passion for data and its role in driving business value

  • Experience working in an agile development environment with a bias for action, even in an ambiguous environment

  • Can-do attitude to ensure we find a way to move forward despite challenges

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills):

  • Experience with B2B customers

  • Experience with vehicle fleets or the automotive industry

This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View, CA or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.

This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

A company vehicle will be provided for this role with successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Report review.

The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant in the California Bay Area which includes the following counties: Marin, Contra Costa, San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz might be paid in accordance with the California law.

The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.

The annual salary range for this role is $127,900 - $200,100. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
