Amazon Risk Program Manager , Global Corporate Procurement in Washington Dc, District Of Columbia

Amazon is seeking a Risk Manager for the Source to Pay Operations, Risk, and Governance (SPORG) team within the Global Corporate Procurement (GCP) team. The Risk Manager will be pivotal in overseeing Amazon-wide global teams that do not use Purchase Orders (POs) for their third-party spending. This role is about managing a complex cross-functional risk program and driving global non-PO partner teams to implement risk reduction strategies and monitor/enforce program controls, thereby significantly impacting our global operations.

Key job responsibilities:

The successful candidate should have strong business, communication, and writing skills, a proven ability to drive solutions to mitigate risks, and, most importantly, the ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment. This role offers a high level of autonomy, allowing you to make a real difference in our risk management strategies.

The successful candidate will also:

• Manage the Global Purchase Order Alternatives and Exceptions Policy (i.e., the POE Policy).

• Develop requirements to enforce the POE Policy.

• Provide a framework to make sure that non-PO teams appropriately manage end-to-end risks in the order-to-pay process, make informed business decisions, and engage in effective remediation efforts.

• Critically analyze non-PO processes and work with Amazon-wide global non-PO stakeholders to identify risks and develop mitigating controls.

• Strive to implement an automated and scalable gating mechanism to oversee non-PO teams.

• Drive mindful discussions to identify and develop strategies to influence non-PO stakeholders (finance, business, technology, and accounting teams) to self-manage and report risks.

• Collaborate across cross-functional teams (finance, business, technology, and accounting) to continuously improve the POE program.

• Implement execution mechanisms, including tracking goals, escalation, key program metrics, and forward-looking program needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification

  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent

  • Master's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
