Role Description

The Senior Manager, Corporate Accounting, will be responsible for managing the global consolidation of the Company’s financial statements including project participation for maintaining and enhancing the Company’s Oracle ERP record to report processes. This role holds a key leadership position in the controllership organization, is seen as a valuable resource to the broader finance organization and requires an ability to be an independent problem solver and strong communicator.

Key responsibilities include helping manage the monthly close process, including being responsible for the monthly close calendar and deadlines, sending communications to the broader finance organization on the status of the close and financial statements, and gathering and evaluating close metrics necessary for identifying possible process gaps and opportunities for improvement. The Senior Manager will also review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations and will be required to have a strong understanding of all parts of the financial statements and transactions, including business combinations, foreign exchange, intercompany, and consolidations. This role will also include reporting responsibilities including preparing fluctuation analyses, management reporting, and financial statements and footnotes for the Company’s quarterly and annual SEC filings.

The Senior Manager will also work closely with the financial systems team on Oracle upgrades and implementations of new functionality and maintaining and designing reports used for management and external reporting. This role will be responsible for overseeing general ledger maintenance including changes to the chart of accounts and legal entity structure and will be integral in helping execute various financial system projects as CoStar Group continues to scale for growth. The role will also be responsible for communicating with the broader finance organization to understand the needs of the business and ensure ERP updates are appropriately implemented.

The Senior Manager will also be involved in other ad hoc projects including the integration of acquired businesses, including the integration and mapping of GL systems and close processes.

The Senior Manager should be an effective leader and communicator, be organized, a problem solver, and possess a strong understanding of US GAAP. The Senior Manager should be highly adaptable to change due to Costar’s rapid growth via organic growth and acquisitions. The Senior Manager must have a strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the monthly close, including review of monthly journal entries and supporting schedules and analysis of monthly financial results.

  • Assist in a variety of aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning system implementation and maintenance.

  • Assist with special projects within department or as part of cross-functional teams

  • Research technical accounting issues.

  • Work with external auditors and facilitate successful completion of the annual audit including compliance with internal controls.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related from an accredited, not-for-profit University or College.

  • A track record of commitment to prior employers.

  • 12 years of experience and Bachelor’s degree, or 8 years of experience and Master’s degree, or similar blend of equivalent experience, education, and accounting credentials.

  • Licensed CPA

  • Consolidations and financial reporting experience.

  • Experience working in a large international public company with primary experience involved in GL close functions.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience managing staff.

  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills

  • Ability to think critically and analyze data effectively.

  • Ability to work with financial systems design, structure and reporting .

  • Ability to work effectively leading and within a team to complete projects.

  • Experience working in a Big 4 or other regional public accounting firm.
