Job Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (College degree or Technical school degree

Preferred or more than 5 years of related experience).

Extensive experience working with industrial electronic equipment; motors, drives,

controls, starters, lights, power, communication, and PLC's.

Extensive programming experience.

Familiar with maintenance planning and scheduling process

Experience working on energized circuits.

Good written and oral communications skills.

Supervisory experience preferred

Language Skills:

Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend English.

Mathematical Skills:

Must have more extensive math skills (add, subtract, multiply & divide).

Must be able to read a tape measure or rule in both standard & metric.

Job Description :

General:

  • Responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing complex

Manufacturing equipment; electrical/electronic systems.

  • Troubleshoot PLC programming.

  • Assist in modifications to existing equipment to facilitate new production techniques and/or improved equipment reliability.

  • Participates in preventive maintenance and calibration activities.

  • Provide training and guidance to Electricians as needed.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Supervise maintenance personnel in the execution of the maintenance and repair of plant equipment.

  • Participate in daily scheduling/check-in meetings.

  • Coordinate maintenance activities for schedule maintenance breakers.

  • Conduct daily job walk-downs to ensure safe, high quality, and efficient maintenance and repairs are being performed by craftspeople, including jobsite clean-up.

  • Ensure maintenance job status entries, and job feedback to Operations is completed on a daily basis

  • Conduct daily toolbox and job status/feedback meetings with maintenance personnel.

  • Process invoices for services.

  • Support the department’s adherence to established Lean Manufacturing objectives.

  • Provide technical assistance to support all site maintenance activities.

  • Facilitate administrative issues, including timekeeping, overtime, training, progression plan, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions.

  • Provide input for shop training and development needs.

  • Facilitate shop 5S activities and improvement initiatives.

  • Submit drawings to Engineering for any revisions/updates.

  • Provide technical assistance to support all site maintenance activities.

  • Order/receive/track necessary material (internal/external) to support maintenance activities.

  • Must have the ability to climb stairs, sit or stand for extended periods, squat, kneel, walk for extended distances, and be able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds.

  • Active support of all EH&S policies and procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Gather manuals, drawings and other documentation to support maintenance and contractor repairs/modifications. Submit drawings to Engineering for any revisions/updates.

  • Plan preventive and predictive maintenance, and repair jobs, including job scope assessment, man-hour requirements, resources and materials required, and provision of required documents.

  • Develop work packages for all planned maintenance work, including repetitive maintenance, and ensure the packages are assembled according to the established department standard

  • Assist in the department’s adherence to established Lean Manufacturing objectives.

  • Assist Engineering in the preparation of spare parts and PM Lists for new equipment.

  • Plan and coordinate the activities associated with the maintenance of equipment to improve plant and equipment availability and efficiency in support of Berry production requirements

  • Coordinate improvement activities identified through vendor programs, including John Crane mechanical seals.

  • Direct the department’s adherence to established Lean Manufacturing objectives. Submit drawings to Engineering for any revisions/updates

  • Must have knowledge of computers, PLC's and other electronics.

  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment with emphasis on mechanical/electrical/electronic control systems.

  • Able to investigate and secure relevant facts on malfunctioning equipment for the purpose of determining root cause and implementing countermeasures.

  • Able to read and understand electrical schematic diagrams and PLC programs.

  • Able to install, maintain, test, repair and replace motors, drives, controls, starters, lights, power, communication, PLC and other related control systems.

  • Able to work in a team-based environment supporting all maintenance activities as assigned.

  • Possess a good understanding of best practice safety procedures, including Arc Flash Protection.

  • All other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

  • May work a 12-hour work day.

  • May work nights and weekends

  • Requires standing, walking, kneeling, bending and reaching.

  • Requires pushing and pulling rolls, carts and hoists.

  • Requires lifting up to 55 pounds.

  • Requires ascending and descending ladders throughout the work day.

Criteria for Success

-Develop work packages for planned maintenance work, including repetitive maintenance

-Assist in monitoring maintenance cost to keep them below 2% of gross value.

-Ensure scheduled work is completed efficiently, with safe, high quality, and reliable results.

-Ensure scheduled work is accomplished to maintain plant availability above 95%.

-Adherence to maintenance budget

-Review stores material for applicability to installed equipment and process changes as needed.

-Elimination of bad actors and other recurring maintenance and operations problems related to installed equipment

-Develop comprehensive work schedules for next 3 weeks, including contractor and project work.

-Develop a Maintenance backlog to 4 maintenance weeks for each craft.
