Google Privacy Developer II, Google Ads in Waterloo, Ontario

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 1 year of experience applying technologies and processes to mitigate risks (e.g., business, regulatory, etc.) using established frameworks such as Privacy By Design.

  • 1 year of experience driving decisions that maintain the privacy posture of an organization by analyzing and assessing proposed solutions (e.g., product features, infrastructure systems, etc.), and influencing stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in Machine Learning, Generative AI, or a similar field.

  • Experience in software development lifecycle.

  • Knowledge of common regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

  • Knowledge of Ads or online e-commerce domain.

  • Understanding of technical privacy issues (e.g., cookie management, encryption).

  • Excellent written/verbal communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

In this role, you will ensure that the Ads business continues to operate smoothly and sustainably by putting user privacy first. You will review every launch to ensure user privacy and to help uphold requirements related to overarching regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You will design Ads products and services in a Privacy by Design, Privacy by Default manner.

  • Help guide developing teams during product development to ensure that their data collection and usage practices are transparent, protect user privacy, and mitigate risk.

  • Work with cross-functional teams within Google on privacy developing activities related to privacy, security, data protection, and data retention.

  • Respond to privacy incidents, if they occur, including collecting information on scope and root cause as well as managing remediation.

  • Conduct technical and policy reviews to identify and escalate potential privacy concerns.

  • Lead and manage proactive development of new privacy features and tools in the machine learning space.
