The Service Operations Program Specialist II assists the Program Manager in service operations involvement in the Generac Development Process (GDP) projects under general supervision and minimal guidance form leadership and higher level Service Operations Program Specialists. This role provides sustained improvement to critical Service Operations processes to help management achieve strategic goals, support release of new product and impact financial results. This position also participates in the Product Review and Resolution (PR&R) process which includes: Identification of product quality issues in the field and qualifying the scope of the issue and reporting pertinent data to the PR&R team for root cause analysis and final resolution in a timely and cost effective manner. Develops the execution plan for all service deliverables including technical publications, training, and spare parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Service Operations

  • Support the Service Operations Program Manager to make sure all deliverables are met within the different level Generac Product Development processes.

  • Ensure project elements are tracked and fulfilled by the various stakeholders

  • Help implement activities on planning processes to assist program Key Stakeholders with delivering key milestones in the program

  • Participate in the Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) teams

  • Track actions within the PR&R Quality process

  • Contribute to the documentation of customers’ definition and expectation of quality issues

  • Intermediate levels of proficiency within the current project tracking software to track multiple NPI projects, and create forms and reports

  • Proven advanced levels of product knowledge by acting as the service lead for projects in multiple product groups

Parts Creation

  • Lead in handling the Service Part Phase In/Out action plan

  • Create PNs and Service Kits and release them within Windchill and SAP

  • Demonstrate the ability to investigate issues with unavailable service parts (via change notices, part obsolescence, etc.) and develop solutions to ensure serviceability of our products

Other Duties as assigned, which may include:

  • Mentorship of lower level Service Operations Specialists

  • Help coordinate communication activities that highlight and publicize plan, timeliness, goals and reach milestones to achieve product service readiness.

  • Achieve protector series certification from the Eagle training team

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 3 years project management or related technical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using Windchill or similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software

  • Experience working on a technical cross-functional project team

  • Experience within a technical field such as Service, Hardware and/or Systems engineering. Strong troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience working with quality improvements/problem solving using 8D/DMIC/PDCA phase methodologies and supporting tools

  • Experience in project leadership or driving new product introduction (NPI)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of engine maintenance to include: air cooled, liquid cooled units, gas, diesel, LP, and natural gas fuel systems

  • Strong foundation of basic mechanical and electrical (AC/DC) fundamental theory

  • Proven customer service ability

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis skills

  • Ability to work with large volumes of process data and statistical methods

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and possesses a level of functional expertise necessary to influence and execute technical and project delivery.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel required.
