Johnson Controls Mechanical Design Drafter in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 20630051 Johnson Controls has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Drafter based in Waynesboro, PA. The Mechanical Design Drafter will support the Screw Compressor Engineering team base in Waynesboro, PA, by providing detailed 3D mechanical designs of twin screw compressors and their components. Responsibilities for the position includes assisting engineers with sales order processing, design, tolerance analysis, drawing creation and bill of material generation. The successful candidate will also provide technical support to purchasing and manufacturing, legacy product support, and new product implementation.

How you will do it

Assist engineers with product development/design by generating detailed 3D models, drawings, and corresponding bills of material.

Provide regular updates on progress of assigned projects/tasks to management.

Translate concepts and ideas from sketches, marked prints or verbal instruction into drawings, models and bills of material using standard company format.

Assist other designer drafters by reviewing their drawings for completeness and accuracy.

Analyzes, designs, modifies and/or troubleshoots mechanical sub-components and sub-systems based on design criteria, test data, and field failures.

Support sustaining product improvement and cost reduction activities.

Assist with questions related to compressor assembly and parts dimensional conformity.

Provides technical support to purchasing, sales, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and other entities within JCI.

Assists in the generation of technical documentation and writes technical documents such as assembly instructions.

What you will need Required

Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical design and be able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product to ensure design integrity.

3D solids design experience (e.g. Inventor, Creo, Solidworks, Fusion 360, or similar).

1+ years experience in the design drafting role.

Strong understanding of mechanical design subject matter.

Understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical design such as drafting standards and GD&T.

Required to work onsite at the Waynesboro facility to support manufacturing and the test lab.
