SGSS Information Systems Security Engineer in Welcome, Maryland

Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a subsidiary of Parsons, has an immediate onsite full-time opening for an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to be part of the Blossom Point Information Assurance team responsible for upgrading and maintaining the security posture of all stand-alone and networked environments at the Blossom Point facility in Welcome, MD. The position requires knowledge of information security accreditation activities, risk assessment tools, disaster recovery, technologies, and methods.

Responsibilities - Essential Functions:

  • Participate as a security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments
  • Participate as a security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation and/or integration of IA architectures, systems, or system components
  • Participate as the primary security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments
  • Participate as the primary security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of IA architectures, systems, or system components
  • Support the Government in the enforcement of the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures
  • Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management
  • Identify overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data
  • Interact with the customer and other project team members
  • Assist in system or network designs that encompass multiple enclaves, to include those with differing data protection/classification requirements
  • Provide security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management
  • Recommend system-level solutions to resolve security requirements
  • Support the Government in the enforcement of the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures
  • Assists architects and systems developers in the identification and implementation of appropriate information security functionality to ensure uniform application of Agency security policy and enterprise solutions
  • Contributes to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification and awareness activities for system and networking operations
  • Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management identify overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data Recommend System-level solutions to resolve security requirements

Required Skills/Abilities - Competencies:

  • Must possess a current, active DOD Secret clearance
  • US Citizen
  • Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining an active DOD TS/SCI clearance
  • Eight to twelve (8-12) years of professional experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required; Four (4) years of ISSE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • Three to four (3-4) year of professional experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer
  • Desired Certifications: DOD 8570.01 CISSP, CEH, CCIE or CASP
  • STE/STN metrics and reporting systems eMASS, XACTA, and JIRA
  • Knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, and implement secure networking, computing, and enclave environments

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Information Technology: Experience with configuring routers, firewalls and other network appliances to meet functional and security constraints
  • Computer operating system experience with LINUX based and Windows-based platforms
  • Experience developing technical documentation for System Security Plans (SSPs) and successfully leading systems through achieving approvals for testing and operation (e.g., Interim Authority to Test (IATT), Interim Authority to Operate (IATO), and Authority to Operate (ATO)
  • Some knowledge of Space System, Satellite Ground Systems, Ground System Operations, or Satellite Operations to help with the site's implementing, monitoring, and enhancing security measures
