West Virginia Employer Operator in Training in Weston, West Virginia
Operator In Training (OIT) reports to the Operations Supervisor and interfaces with company staff, clients, and utility system customers daily. OIT will be given combined on-the-job and classroom training to learn use of water quality testing equipment, water sampling methods, how and when to adjust water and wastewater treatment systems, equipment troubleshooting and repair, along with all other needed skills to produce and maintain high quality, safe potable water for public distribution and consumption. OIT must pass certification exam and obtain operator license within 12 months. Pay increases will accompany each completed operator certification level. Must provide proof of high school graduation or GED equivalent (transcripts required). Due to the nature of work with public utility systems, must successfully complete pre-employment screenings to include: criminal background, motor vehicle report, drug/alcohol testing. Must maintain a valid driver's license during employment and have reliable transportation. Normal working hours Monday - Friday but must be available for emergency call out. Job Duties Include: * Maintain all routine activities associated with water or wastewater treatment facility and/or water distribution system. * Careful observation of Operators and retention of on-the-job training records, SOPs, and notes. * Preparation for WDS, Class I Water and/or Class I Wastewater Operator certification exam through study, sample tests and classroom training. Compliance with applicable federal, state, local laws and public service commission statues, rules or regulations.
