Eversource Energy Manager, Learning and Development in Westwood, Massachusetts

Role and Scope of Position:

The Manager, Learning and Development is responsible for overseeing the design, development and delivery of customized system-wide multi-state (MA/CT/NH) training efforts and front-line leadership programs utilizing a blended learning approach for optimal results. This position works closely with leadership to assess all required business objectives to design the specific training plan and tools necessary to maximize employee performance, engagement, and leadership development.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and drive development initiatives in support of organizational objectives including current and future skill needs, enhancing leadership capabilities, supporting associate career growth and pathing, skills development, coaching, and high potential development.
  • Drive employer branding initiatives and Employee Value Proposition to enhance our reputation as an employer of choice, leveraging storytelling, content marketing, social media, and other channels to attract top talent.
  • Own the organizational and leadership behaviors framework as well as the training associated with developing these competencies within the organization by building out our team and leadership effectiveness capabilities to enhance the performance, cohesion and collaboration of teams.
  • Support succession planning efforts to identify and prepare high-potential employees to build a robust pipeline of ready leaders.
  • Develop and lead the portfolio of leadership assessments (360 Degree Feedback, PRISM, Strengthfinders, Hogan, etc.), advise on usage and best-in-class practices, and manage internal and external coaching pools.
  • Lead team and contractors that design, deploy and manage leadership development programs utilizing a variety of instructional methods and technologies to deliver engaging and effective leadership learning that is aimed at building capability and bench strength.
  • Collaborate and foster strong relationships with senior leaders, HRBPs and other key stakeholders to assess and understand development needs, ensure program alignment and gain buy-in for leadership cohort initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership and HR to measure bench strength and determine the impact of leadership initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong connection to industry leaders of Leadership Development and continue development of personal and team subject matter expertise.
  • Oversight of culture, employee engagement and employee surveying efforts.
  • Partnering closely with HR business partners and centers of expertise on performance, talent, and leadership needs.
  • Staying current on talent management trends, advancements, and best practices in learning and development, leadership, and career development; contributing innovative ideas, sharing talent trends across HR and with the business.
  • Monitoring, measuring, and evaluating the effectiveness of development initiatives and solutions and making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement and improved outcomes.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in digital learning trends, AI, training tools and platforms and provide thought leadership in continuously exploring new and innovative approaches.
  • Partnering with vendor organizations and managing relationships with external training providers to deliver training and provide best-in-class content and resources.
  • Overseeing leadership and career development annual budgets, driving scale and simplicity, and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Supports Emergency response Planning (ERP) role and all required training.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Knowledge of key technologies and platforms in the learning development, employee survey/engagement and delivery space.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to plan organize, motivate others and complete projects from start to end within requested timelines requiring continuous monitoring of resources and shifting resources to support shift in project timelines.
  • Knowledge of business processes, culture and systems that support an operations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design, on-line learning development methodology, and E-Learning simulations, assessments, and software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Instructional Design Methodologies for both traditional instructor led and web-based training materials and ability to use technology (MS Office Suite).
  • Experience in technical writing for development of on-line training and the use of Learning Management System.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Behavioral Sciences, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in talent management, learning and developing, organizational effectiveness and employee training activities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated experience in working and communicating across functional boundaries and consulting to business areas on learning and performance improvement strategies.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Instructional Design, SHRP, Coaching and/or Project Management Preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Drives to various job sites located in MA, CT, and NH to make field visits, quality audits and observations, on the job training and evaluation of line personnel.

Mental Aspects :

  • Work includes analyzing, consulting, designing, developing, implementing, training, facilitating and project managing. This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results. Must be able to clearly articulate job-related information to employees.
