Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set and operate a new LS 500 DMG turning center. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3-axis and 5-axis mill machines, EDM machines, and prior exposure to Nakamura, DMGs, and Deckel Maho. The role involves operating and setting up multiple machines using Siemens and Fanuc controls, utilizing various measuring tools, and working on short-run prototype and production machining with very tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Set and operate a new LS 500 DMG turning center

  • Operate and set up 3-axis and 5-axis mill machines and EDM machines (Nakamura, DMGs, Deckel Maho)

  • Utilize Siemens and Fanuc controls for machine setup and operation

  • Use a variety of measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, optical scopes, and drop gauges

  • Operate and set up multiple machines simultaneously

  • Perform short-run prototype and production machining with very tight tolerances

Essential Skills

  • Machinist experience

  • CNC setup and operation

  • Experience with mills and lathes

  • Experience with tight tolerances as small as microns

  • Blueprint reading

  • Knowledge of G&M Codes

  • Shop math and GD&T experience

  • Proficiency with Fanuc and Siemens controls

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Vertical and horizontal milling experience

  • Prototype machining experience

  • Micro machining experience

  • 5-axis CNC experience

Work Environment

The work environment is extremely clean and organized, akin to an R&D shop. The facility is large but the machining department consists of a small, tight-knit team of five people. The owner has a PhD, emphasizing a focus on research and development.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
