Actalent Assistant Buyer in White Plains, New York

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Assistant Buyer to assist our Buyers in sourcing and purchasing products for our stores. The ideal candidate will have a passion for retail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Buyers in researching and identifying new product opportunities

  • Source products from vendors, negotiating prices and terms

  • Analyze sales data and trends to inform buying decisions

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers

  • Assist in managing inventory levels and minimizing stockroom inefficiencies

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient product flow

  • Provide administrative support to the Buying team, including preparing reports and presentations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Retail, Business, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in buying or merchandising

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software

  • Knowledge of retail operations and inventory management principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in (specific industry/retail category)

  • Knowledge of fashion trends and consumer behavior

  • Familiarity with product development processes

  • Certification in buying or merchandising (e.g. CPRP, CMRP)
