    JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for general accounting tasks regarding selected accounts receivable, selected accounts payable, and petty cash. Also responsible for selected bank account reconciliations. Interfaces with auditors, vendors, property management and all levels of Agency staff. The Staff Accountant will be a mature professional with at least 2-4 years of general accounting experience.

    Pay: $71,000 annual salary.

    FLSA: Exempt. Not eligible for overtime.

    Schedule: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

    JOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position.
  • Follow all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable procedures and any new accounting procedures put in place.

  • Accurately process bi-weekly payroll, mileage reimbursement.

  • Accurately process bi-weekly 401k contributions payments.

  • Record the bi-weekly payroll in the General Ledger.

  • Reconcile Payroll Liability Accounts.

  • Reconcile Payroll 3rdParty Sick Pay.

  • Accurately prepare all NYC DHS payroll labor allocation reports.

  • Process monthly NYC DHS, Suffolk DSS and Suffolk RSP Billing.

  • Reconcile and Pay Agency’s Home Depot Credit Card Accounts.

  • Accurately post rental deposits into the accounting software from the property management software Yardi.

  • Interface with New York City Property Management to ensure the accuracy of cash collections and deposits for tenant rents.

  • Enter accounts receivable into the sub-ledger and enter subsequent payments to clear receivables.

  • Verify invoice payment approvals, code invoices, and enter accounts payable into the sub-ledger.

  • Analyze vendor expenditures and inform management of trends and concerns.

  • Prepare checks for CFO review and signature.

  • Assist upper management with audits, miscellaneous projects, and department goals.

Qualifications

What do I need to apply?

Education: A minimum of an associate's degree in accounting.

Experience: 2 to 4 years of general accounting experience.

Communication: Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Computer Skills: Basic competency in MS Office and Accounting Software

Math Skills: Must be excellent.

Physical Performance: None

Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls.

Other Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Must be even-tempered, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines.
