This position has been designated as Hybrid and work will be performed at any of the Trane offices located in Long Island City, NY - Pine Brook, NJ - Rocky Hill, CT - Wilmington, MA - or - Albany, NY.

Job Summary:

Trane in the Greater Northeast Region is hiring for a Regional Contracting Leader to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for the administration, implementation, and management of the contracting fulfillment processes in its goal of operational excellence, support of overall strategic objectives, delivering excellent customer outcomes, and accountable for overall project financial results. This role will also be a part of the Regional Leadership team and will be responsible for leading and collaborating on regional strategies, talent development and driving a winning culture across the overall business.

Trane provides customer solutions across all vertical markets that help owners improve their business outcomes. We focus on any solution or technology that will improve a customer’s asset while focusing on efficiency, sustainability and reducing environmental impacts. Projects range in size from $50,000 to Tens of Millions of dollars and range in scope from rooftop replacements to central plant modernizations and infrastructure upgrades. Trane operates in a Turnkey, General Contracting model.

Responsibilities:

• Report directly to the Regional General Manager and work to develop strategies required to identify business gaps and opportunities.

• Lead a team of Area Contracting Managers across the Greater Northeast Region. May lead other team members as appropriate.

• Partners throughout the qualification and development of an opportunity with the Development team of Energy Engineers and Project Developers

• Experience across a wide range of contracting disciplines to execute in an Owner Direct, Design Build, General Contracting model.

• Operate in a design build model and review scope for thoroughness and completeness.

• Works with the sales teams to develop customer confidence and alignment on implementation.

• Assures that resources are available to meet the business needs in each of the five (5) area offices.

• Creates a culture that drive ownership and accountability and rewards success.

• Participates in process improvement, problem solving processes and strategy development across the overall business and region.

• Assure safety processes are developed and followed for all contracting operations. Oversees the development of safety plans and works with safety leaders on risk and mitigation plans.

• Partners with peer leader in the Automation/Controls business

• Responsible for regional and area financials and identifying key metrics to drive awareness across the business and to create accountability throughout the team.

• Works with Area Contracting Mangers to retain and attract talent as well build development plans to establish required skill sets, talents and capabilities.

• Review of estimates and execution plans for overall scope completeness and identification of risk.

• Work with teams to establish and maintain effective project schedules and risk plans.

• Maintain corporate and local compliance standards and business systems adherence.

• Work with Area General Managers and their local leaders to ensure team alignment in each of five (5) areas across the Greater Northeast Region supporting their local cultures and business drivers.

• Assures that talent is ready and available to meet the needs related to emerging technologies.

• Participates in meetings and teams across North America for collaboration and sharing of lessons learned and best practice sharing.

• Review customer contracts and work with legal team to identify and mitigate risk.

• Identifies and works to acquire needed subcontracting and design partners for the business.

• Creates upstream awareness of issues with mitigation plans.

• Identifies talent issues and works quickly to resolve and fill gaps as necessary.

• Lead monthly financial reviews and analyze team performance using necessary business/performance metrics.

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting. Communicate with team members on financial performance to goals; provide precise feedback to reinforce successes and provide course correction as needed.

• Responsible for compliance with internal contracting processes.

• Ensures that quality standards are developed and maintained, after an order is closed, for contracting process and functions required for execution and customer satisfaction, including new equipment, existing building services, and building automation.

• Overall contracting responsibility for the following functions within the categories of new equipment, existing building services, and building automation: order validation, order entry, order follow up, customer inquiry, engineering, submittals, service operations, building automation operations, project management, technical support, warranties, claims, and resource allocations.

• Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and staff as needed.

• Overnight travel required to be approximately 25% – 35% expected per month.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum leadership experience of 10 years.

• Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in facilities or HVAC systems preferred.

• Experienced and knowledgeable in contracting processes associated with complex comprehensive solutions.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations included, but not limited to:

o DUI, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

Base Pay Range: $155,000-$287,500

This "range" could be a result of seniority, merit, geographic location where the work is performed, education, experience, travel requirements for the job, or because of a system the employer uses to measure earnings by quantity or quality of production (so, for example, positions that may not have traditional salary ranges).
