Position Overview
The Material Handler II is responsible for the identification and location of specific component parts, preparation of product for shipment and delivering the materials/products to their intended locations.
Essential Job Functions
The job duties listed below are the fundamental job duties of this position. Failure to perform any one of these duties would substantially alter the nature of the position.
Use crane, hoist, forklift or other material handling equipment to transport materials and product into and out of the work area as required
Stack or assemble materials into bundles and band bundles together, using banders, tape, padding, shrink wrap or other materials
Verify quantities listed on manufacturing documentation are met and items conform to prints
Properly organize and store material
Maintain organization of products and raw materials
Participate and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
Maintain 5S guidelines
Create and execute the daily plan to keep material flowing to satisfy schedule
Prioritizes and expedites material through Leads and Operators
Identify and initiates corrective actions (NCM) to improve BOM and inventory accuracy
Utilize ERP software to research inventory discrepancies and understand status of Jobs & materials moving through the manufacturing process
Trains employees
Maintain shop, equipment, tools etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety
Check for inventory and data recording errors daily
Report concerns to appropriate lead personnel in other areas as required
Enter job data in production tracking system
Perform cycle counts
Seek and perform alternate, productive tasks to keep busy during unexpected down time
Ensure use of safe work procedures and wear all required PPE.
Perform work at the appropriate pace to maintain quality and productivity requirements
Follow company policies in relation to safety, cleanliness, attendance etc.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent
Skill of effective and appropriate verbal and written communication skills
Skill to accurately use tape measure and precision measuring devices
Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings
Computer literate; particularly in word processing, spreadsheet, email, shop floor control, production planning, and inventory control applications
Ability to perform basic shop math functions
Ability to read and understand required internal manufacturing paperwork in English
Ability to electronically record production information
Ability to work with others as part of a high performance team
Adapt to changing work priorities
Able to work under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or procedures
Ability to present information to others to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines

Generally, the job requires standing, walking, and balancing on a continuous basis Additionally, the employee may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis depending on work assignment.* The employee may be required to push and pull up to 75 pounds on an occasional to frequent basis depending on work assignment.** The employee may be required to repetitively bend and/or reach forward to perform tasks, as well as occasionally perform tasks at knee level. Minimal climbing may be necessary to complete tasks.
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to communicate with others. The noise level in the production environment is loud, consistent with normal shop conditions. The nature of the job is working with and around machinery and equipment. The employee may be exposed to cut and puncture hazards, congested work areas, temperature variations, glare, and chemicals necessary to perform the role. For these reasons personal protective equipment is required. This role requires near and far vision, tactical, hearing, speech, and spatial perception abilities.
