Saint-Gobain Site Buyer in WINTER HAVEN, Florida

What's the Job?

Reporting to the Director of Purchasing Operations and working in direct coordination with the Inventory Manager and Production Manager, Site Buyer is responsible for managing all purchasing and compliance functions for the facility and ensures that the inventory materials and parts are kept at required quantities and replenished to their set level. This role will need to focus on cost savings, implementation and adherence to global compliance, and utilization of digital tools while providing timely service to our internal customers.

RAW MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS PLANNING AND PURCHASING DUTIES

  • Monitors raw material consumption and inventory levels via SAP ERP, plans and orders raw materials in order to achieve the production schedule and maintain optimal inventory levels.

  • Creates purchase orders and manages inbound supply and ongoing expediting for parts (inclusive of non-stock parts).

  • Monitors and updates anticipated delivery dates in the ERP.

  • Responsible for setting and maintaining local MRP settings for each raw material.

  • Communicates with all stakeholders concerning parts availability and delivery schedules for planned work. Proactively resolves supply issues and seeks alternatives.

  • Assesses delivery bundling opportunities to minimize inbound freight charges.

  • Liaises with vendors and custom brokers to clear any international shipments.

  • Notifies vendors of non-conforming material issues and requests corrective actions with plant Engineering engagement.

  • Manages and resolves invoice exceptions in Medius System and works on addressing root-causes of invoice discrepancies.

  • Supports resolution of aged Goods Received Invoice Received (GRIR) accruals.

  • Purchasing of Raw Materials and Repair Material in accordance with Internal Control and purchasing guidelines.

SPEND PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT DUTIES

  • Develops and maintains a Road Map to assess local suppliers.

  • Identifies and leads sourcing, supplier consolidation, and supplier switching projects to ensure optimal MRO spend portfolio and source diversification.

  • Consistently challenges local suppliers through utilization of Saint-Gobain e-tools for bidding (ProSource) for all opex and capex spend.

  • Reports all hard and soft savings at the end of each project using Purchaser Performance Management (PPM) Saint-Gobain e-tool.

  • Creates contracts using standard templates and exhibits, monitors validity of all contracts, and ensures that they are uploaded into ProcureNet e-tool for contract management.

  • Ensures maximum compliance to Corporate Preferred Supplier Program

  • Proactively analyses local practices, suggests and implements improvements to drive optimization, efficiencies and best-practice utilization.

  • Monitors and reports vendor performance using digital tools while addressing deficiencies as needed.

What do you bring?

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience which will provide a working knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices and procedures associated with purchasing activities.

  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, inventory management or manufacturing activities.

  • Excellent computer skills; including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Passion for accomplishing preferred quality, service and best value in Purchasing.

PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • SAP systems knowledge (Strongly Preferred)

  • Comfortable working in a team environment.

  • Leadership during projects and at the facility

  • Experience using continuous improvement tools

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (Strongly Preferred)

  • 1 to 2 years of experience in production and/or MRP planning in SAP or similar system.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
