Actalent Environmental Technician in Winter Park, Florida

Job Description:

Seeking a meticulous and dedicated Environmental Technician to perform tests and sampling of various environmental materials, including air, groundwater, and building materials, with a focus on safety and accuracy. The role involves operating field monitoring equipment, assisting with remediation system operations, and potentially participating in asbestos surveys and abatement projects. Successful candidates will transport samples to labs for analysis, tabulate data, and maintain equipment while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing building inspections for asbestos-containing materials

  • Testing surface coatings for lead paint in commercial/industrial settings

  • Performing mold inspections and sampling

  • Conducting standardized and complex field tests

  • Air monitoring and visual inspections during asbestos abatement

  • Calibration of field monitoring equipment

  • Inspection and sampling within industrial settings

  • Performing indoor air quality assessments

  • Maintaining quality standards on all projects

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; B.S. in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Scientist preferred

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products

  • Good written communication skills with the ability to type reports

  • Overnight travel may periodically be required

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history

  • Required inspector certifications in asbestos, lead, radon, and/or mold; or the ability to obtain these certifications

  • The ability to obtain a Jessica Lunsford Act badge for work conducted in K-12 facilities

  • Sunday thru Thurs - 3rd shift, overnight - 11pm - 7 am. Typically there is opportunity for OT
