Actalent Engineering Test Technician in Ypsilanti, Michigan
Description:
Our customer, located in Ann Arbor, MI is currently looking for a Technician in their Vehicle Emission and Efficiency Lab (VEL) at their facility who will: Perform vehicle emission testing on a chassis dyno to comply with SAE/EPA/CARB specification/regulations, and industry best practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include: - Perform chassis dyno emission tests (driving) - Prepares, installs and sets up test vehicle, analyzers, dyno, data acquisition and other equipment - Perform SHED testing (HSL, DBL and ORVR) - Perform testing and records results, communicates results to an Engineer, or to a Supervisor / Manager, as required - Prepare vehicles for testing (fuel drain and fill, canister loading/conditioning, instrumentation, etc.) - Support/perform daily equipment calibration and maintenance - Complete test documentation paperwork - Proposes improvements to processes and equipment upgrades - Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures - Perform light mechanical work - Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of chassis test cells and work area - Perform additional projects as assigned

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Must Haves: - 2+ years of emissions lab experience - Experience with chassis dynamometers and or emissions analytical systems - Experience performing EPA/CARN vehicle emission test procedures - Working knowledge of EPA/CARB vehicle emission test regulations for ICE and/or xEV vehicles - Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior - Strong diagnostic skills – ability to learn and understand new concepts and applications - Strong attention to detail skills – follows policies, procedures, and safety measures - Strong interpersonal and communication skills Preferred Qualifications: - Working knowledge of ISO 17025 - IUVP compliance experience - Environmental chamber experience - Horiba MEXA-ONE or 7000 series emission analytical system experience - Burke E Porter 4WD Chassis Dynamometer experience - Webber EMI evaporative emission SHED experience - xEV (HEV, PHEV, and BEV) testing experience - Experience working in a culturally diverse team environment
